Why ITVX blocks VPNs
ITVX is free to watch and funded by advertising sold against a UK audience, so an overseas viewer is worth nothing to the advertiser buying the slot. Why does ITVX keep blocking my VPN?
ITVX checks IP addresses against known VPN and hosting ranges at the point you request a stream, not at login. When your provider's IP turns up on that list, the stream fails. PureVPN's own documentation acknowledges this and suggests switching server or protocol. A third-party test from July 2026 found Proton VPN failed on ITVX even though Proton's own docs list UK server support, which shows how quickly an address can get flagged.
Which VPN does ITVX not block?
No provider can guarantee permanent access because the block list is updated continuously. That said, ExpressVPN, NordVPN, CyberGhost, Astrill, PIA and PureVPN all publish claims of working UK access as of August 2026.
