Does a VPN work with Netflix UK?
Netflix does not block VPN users outright, it serves them a smaller catalogue, which is a different problem with a different tell.

Why Netflix UK blocks VPNs
Netflix licenses each title country by country, so the catalogue you see is a function of where it thinks you are. Rather than refusing the connection, it detects data-centre and known-VPN IP ranges and falls back to the titles it holds worldwide rights to. That is why the failure mode is a thin catalogue or a proxy error on a specific title, not a locked door.
What changes, and why a working setup stops working
Netflix maintains one of the largest and most actively updated VPN IP lists in streaming, and providers rotate addresses against it continuously. Expect a working server to be a moving target rather than a setting you configure once.
This is aimed at adults with a paid Netflix account who want their own home catalogue while abroad. Netflix terms cover where and how the service may be used, and they are worth reading before you rely on any of this.
Questions people actually ask
Do VPNs still work with Netflix UK?
Several providers publish guidance suggesting their UK servers restore the UK catalogue. Proton VPN's documentation specifically states that connecting to a UK Plus server switches Netflix to the UK library. Results vary by provider and can change without notice, so no verdict is permanent.
Why does Netflix keep detecting my VPN?
Netflix flags data-centre IP ranges rather than blocking VPN traffic outright. When it spots one, you'll either see a thin catalogue or a proxy error on a specific title. Astrill's own support post notes this happens and suggests switching to a different server, which often clears it.
Which VPN works with Netflix UK?
PIA names the United Kingdom among 11 countries where it runs dedicated streaming servers. Proton VPN and ExpressVPN both publish documentation pointing users to UK servers. CyberGhost and PureVPN also make compatibility claims in their marketing, though neither provides a UK-specific detection caveat.
Is it legal to use a VPN for Netflix in the UK?
UK law does not criminalise VPN use. Netflix's terms of service restrict access by location, so using a VPN may put your account in breach of those terms, but that is a contractual matter between you and Netflix, not a legal one.
Does NordVPN work with Netflix UK?
An independent review reports that NordVPN can reach 17 Netflix libraries, which would include the UK. Nord's own support article covers general Netflix troubleshooting but never names the UK catalogue specifically. Based on published sources, the verdict is that it works, though that can change if Netflix updates its detection.
